Seniors from Paly and Gunn have gathered at 730 Seale Ave. to help put on a Haunted House Show open to the public. The performance begins at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free but donations to support the American Disaster Relief Club are welcome. – Jake SternPalo Alto High School’s American Disaster Relief Club will hold a haunted house fundraiser today at 730 Seale Ave. to raise money. The event begins at 5:30 p.m.

According to ADR Co-President Nadav Gavrielov, admission to the haunted house will be free, but donations are encouraged from those who attend.

Gavrielov plans on publicizing the event by handing out flyers and hanging up posters around campus.

The haunted house will be constructed over two days and will require many club members to help.

“The haunted house takes a massive amount of work,” Gavrielov said. “Last year we managed to set up the entire haunted house in two days with the help of over twenty Paly students and members of ADR.”

This is the club’s second year hosting the event; last year, the event brought in $350, according to ADR Co-President Jake Stern.

“Last year went really well, and we are excited for this year’s event,” Gavrielov said. “We hope to do twice as well.”

According to Stern, the haunted house is directed towards an audience of all ages, and he is hoping that it also still appeals to previous visitors.

“We’re hoping to attract the same people [as last year],” Stern said.

ADR raised $1,000 over the entirety of last year for a grassroots organization in New Orleans that was rebuilding the city in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, and it cooperated with the American Red Cross campaign to help raise funds for earthquake victims in Haiti. This year, the club also plans on selling hot chocolate the week before Christmas to raise funds.

The ADR club plans on making the haunted house as enjoyable as possible, according to Stern.

“Students should expect to have fun,” Stern said.
