During today's fourth Spirit Week lunch rally in Palo Alto High School's Big Gym, the seniors and sophomores faced each other in Cup Game. According to senior Sunday Ahn, she was certain that seniors were going to win the game. "I had confidence in Max [the senior winner] to win the game," Ahn said. "It was fun to watch the very close up battle between them."
Between baby bottles, leather jackets, suits and robes, seniors prevailed, with 6,350 new points, at the fourth Spirit Week rally at lunch today in Palo Alto High School’s Big Gym.
Juniors clutched the win in Musical Chairs, but the seniors ultimately won big during Head Shoulders Knees Cup against fierce competition from the sophomores.
According to junior Kane Do, winner of the musical chairs game, he hopes to have helped juniors stay high in the rankings.
“It felt great to win in front of everyone,” Do said. “I hope this helps the juniors have a higher chance of winning.”
According to senior Malcolm Ginwalla, who competed against Do in the musical chairs finale, he enjoyed playing but wishes the rules were clarified earlier.
“The junior [Do] made up an illegal move where he threw the chair, which was specifically specified to me that I was not allowed to do,” Ginwalla said. “Had I known that I was able to [throw the chair] I think it would have played out very differently, but still, seniors on top.”
The Paly Cheer team and Dance team wowed the crowds with their coordinated routines and energy.
Senior Keira Mok, dancer for the school’s Dance team, said she enjoyed seeing filled and spirited bleachers while dancing during the rally.
“Dancing at the rallies is really fun because it’s Spirit Week, everyone is here and everyone has spirit,” Mok said.
Currently, the Spirit Week scoreboard is as follows:
24,450 pts for seniors
19,100 pts for juniors
18,400 pts for sophomores
16,650 pts for freshmen
