Spirit Week floats have been covered Monday due to expectations for rain during the start of week at palo Alto High School. Freshman Kimberly Li said she is disappointed the float building has been put off. “I’m disappointed because I was going to go to float building,” Li said. “But because of the rain, it has been cancelled, so I won’t be able to go.”
Float building has been cancelled for today, and, in anticipation of rain throughout the week, a handful of lunch rallies have been moved indoors for Palo Alto High School’s annual Spirit Week.
Associated Student Body Publicity Manager Ellie Knott said float building is being cancelled for today, but students will continue to work on them for the rest of the week.
“We’re planning for float building – we’re gonna do that with tarps and covering up all our materials,” Knott said.
Senior and ASB Spirit Commissioner Kensie Pao said that despite the rain, ASB’s plans haven’t been affected much.
“It’s really no worries, because we made a lot of progress over the weekend,” Pao said. “We’ve moved some of them [the rallies] indoors so that we can still have them.”
Pao said some of the rallies have been moved indoors, but they will still have the same activities planned, and even have new methods to make rally games easier to comprehend.
“We prepared a lot of games the past few weeks,” Pao said. “We also recorded some videos so that people really understand how the rules work, so there’s no miscommunication.”
According to senior Delilah Kaplinsky, the rain hasn’t affected her plans for Spirit Week because she plans to go all-out, no matter what.
“When it comes to Spirit Week, you have to like your outfit no matter what,” Kaplinsky said. “You have to thug it out throughout the weather.”
Senior Maeva Herbert-Paz said she is worried about her outfit for Wednesday and how it will look wet.
“The one thing that I was worried about is Wednesday because it’s togas for seniors and I’m going to be wearing sheets,” Herbert-Paz said. “When it starts to rain, we’re going to become transparent. So I’m probably going to have to wear an extra layer of clothing underneath.”
According to senior Kamilli Fossati-Moiane, she has noticed many people had to change their outfit plans due to the cold.
“I have noticed that a lot of people, especially freshmen, didn’t fully wear their outfits because they didn’t want to be too cold,” Fossati-Moiane said.
