Senior citizen seniors, sophisticate juniors, bobby-soxer style sophomores, and little baby freshman filled the stands during the explosive rally held today during lunch.
"This rally was a lot more involved, people were more sure of themselves," senior Spirit Commissioner Vanessa Tejeda said.
Earsplitting cheers from all the classes were the cue for the main event to begin.
The competion was a relay style race, which required four boys from each class carry one girl on a mattress to the opposite side of the quad, where they touched a hula-hoop, switched girls and ran back to the start.
The classes competed two at a time, beginning with the winning sophomores and seniors. The juniors then prevailed against the freshmen, setting up the race between the two other triumphant classes.
The juniors and the sophomores battled it out in a double-length version of the race but only after a revision of the rules stated that if any class dropped their girl they would be disqualified. A quarter into the race the sophomores dropped their girl and mattress, allowing the juniors to win.
With this colossal success, the junior class was sad to hear that that race would be discounted since neither class touched the designated hula-hoop. In the rematch the junior class dominated again, but this time by a smaller margin.
Finally, the seniors and sophomores competed for third place. A huge margin allowed the seniors to walk backwards for the last leg of the race, pulverizing the freshman.
With a great outcome for the juniors, class president Loretta Shen said, "It was really fun, but I knew from the beginning that we were going to win because we’re just a better class."
While the juniors did come out the winners, all classes left the rally cheering and optimistic.
"I think we showed really well," senior class president Robin Chang said "We were unlucky, but we’ll make up for it tomorrow."
