Boys’ Basketball
Record for the Week: (3-0)
Overall Record: (22-1); League: (11-0)
60-19 (W) at Cupertino, 71-43 (W) vs. Los Gatos, 54-41 (W) at Gunn

The Palo Alto High School boys’ basketball team continued its dominant season, winning all three games this week and extending its winning streak to 19 consecutive games.

The Vikings also continued their perfect De Anza League season by thrashing conference foes the Cupertino Pioneers 60-19 and the Los Gatos Wildcats 71-43. Paly’s toughest test came on the road against its cross-town rivals the Gunn Titans. The Vikings, who were losing by as many as 14 points in the second half, stormed back behind senior Aubrey Dawkins to win 54-41. The victory marked the Vikings’ seventh straight victory over the Titans, dating back to 2009. Paly travels to Milpitas next Friday in its regular season finale, hoping to complete an undefeated season in De Anza League play.

Girls’ Basketball
Record for the Week: (1-2)
Overall Record: (9-13); League: (5-6)
56-41 (L) at Wilcox, 44-28 (W) vs. Los Gatos, 55-19 (L) at Gunn

Girls’ varsity basketball continued its struggles this season, going 1-2 over the course of the week. A talented Wilcox team handled the Vikings on their  home court. Paly bounced back later in the week with a solid victory over Los Gatos. Unfortunately, the team couldn’t ride the momentum of this win into the next game at Gunn. In the first half, Paly could only muster up two points on the board; the deficit was too great to overcome and the Vikes took a 36 point defeat at the hands of their cross-town rivals.

Boys’ Soccer

Overall Record: (12-5-2); League: (7-3-1)
5-0 (W) at Wilcox, 3-2 (L) vs. Milpitas

The boys’ soccer team started the week by comfortably defeating the Wilcox Chargers 5-0. The Vikings charged out to a 4-0 halftime lead behind three goals by senior forward Chris Meredith. Paly fell in its next game on senior night against the Milpitas Trojans. The Vikings surrendered a 2-1 lead in the second half en route to a 3-2 defeat. The Vikings still have a chance for promotion from the El Camino League if they can defeat the Cupertino Pioneers next Wednesday in their final regular season game.

The victory helped the Vikings clinch the El Camino League title, and more importantly, secured a promotion back up to the De Anza League. The Vikings finished the week by taking down visiting the Milpitas Trojans 3-1 and adding to their dominating regular season performance. The Vikings end their regular season next Wednesday when they host the Cupertino Pioneers.
