Boys’ Soccer Slideshow: Vikings bury Gunn 2-0

Published February 1, 2013

The Palo Alto High School boys’ soccer team (7-4-2,1-0-1) regained the leverage on its inter-city rivalry yesterday, defeating the Gunn Titans (3-6-2, 2-3-1) 2-0 Wednesday afternoon on Paly’s El Camino field.

Despite being demoted to the lower SCVAL El Camino Division after a winless season last year, the Vikings came ready to play. Led by senior captain Kirby Gee, the Vikings were able to use a balanced attack and a tough defense to squash any doubts that they didn’t belong in the upper division.

“I’m really proud of the whole team today,” Gee said. “Our defense clearly stepped up our game, our midfield was confusing Gunn’s defense and our forwards were creative all game. It was an important win and it definitely felt good to get one on Gunn.”
