Preview: Teen Arts Council to host Open Mic VI

Published October 11, 2012

Palo Alto’s Teen Arts Council will be hosting Open Mic Night VI, the second of the school year, at 7 p.m. on Friday, at the Palo Alto Children’s Theatre.

The Teen Arts Council has, in the past, boasted all sorts of performances from singing to guitar playing to stand-up comedy.

Palo Alto High School junior Sarah Ohlson, who has attended  past open mics put on by theTeen Arts Council, was very impressed by the acts she saw.

“All sorts of acts perform [at open mic],” she said. “You get singing, as well as stand up comedy, sometimes you get juggling, sometimes there are a capella groups. It’s incredible.”

The Teen Arts Council’s frequent open mic nights give local teens a chance to perform in a stress-free environment and provide performers and audience members alike with a chance to unwind on a Friday night.

“It’s really chill,” Ohlson said. “There are rugs all over the floor and there are couches, and you can just sit on the ground if you want. It’s very cozy and nice.”
